campaign who work with consumers around the country.
You can also contact Consumer Action (an AFFIL Partner)
for free, non-legal advice. If you call their hotline at 415-777-9635
or 213-624-8327 and leave a voice mail message, their multilingual
hotline counselors will return your call as soon as possible. They speak
Chinese, English, and Spanish. You can also email Consumer Action (hotline@consumer-action.org) or fill out their web form.
Credit Counseling: For serious trouble with credit card or other consumer debt, consider contacting a nonprofit counselor who is a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling.

File a Complaint
If you have been the victim of predatory lending it is
important that state and federal regulators hear from you. In many cases,
they will be able to help with your problem.
If they receive lots of complaints against a particular lender, they may
undertake a serious investigation which could end up helping many other
consumers as well. By taking the time to
file your complaint, you are helping to raise the volume of our call for
regulators to act on their responsibility to put an end to predatory lending.
In order to file a complaint against your lender, you will need
to know who regulates it. Some lenders are regulated by federal agencies,
some by state agencies, and some by both.
Figuring out exactly who you should complain to can be confusing, so we
have provided a page to help you identify
who regulates your lender.
If you determine that your lender is a state-chartered institution, we recommend that you file your complaint both with your state regulator
(identified below) and with the Federal
Reserve Board (the federal regulator of some state-chartered lenders who has
promised that it will forward all complaints to the appropriate federal
