Consumer advocates formed AFFIL to fight for people affected by
predatory lending - people like Carol in Texas who is suffering from
cancer and took out a payday loan to pay her medical bills. These
payday fees and overdraft loans continue to cost her hundreds each
month.
And for people like Diane from Tennessee, a single mom who was
buried under $40,000 of credit card debt, most of which was bogus
interest and fees. Diane endured harassment from debt collectors until
her Attorney General forced them to stop.
And for the Steins in Ohio, who after 27 years lost their home
because an unscrupulous mortgage broker tricked them into a bad reverse
mortgage, and drained them of their hard-earned equity.
These are the people AFFIL is fighting for—for these and countless
others who have been victims of a renegade lending industry, and a
government which has consistently done too little too late for
struggling borrowers.
AFFIL is bringing people together who have had enough of predatory
lending, and who want the government to restore consumer protections as
part of a safe and sound economy. We’re mobilizing activists,
educating the media, and putting decision-makers on notice that we want
real protection for consumers.
AFFIL doesn't accept any money from corporations, and donations are
essential to keep our campaign running. Our tiny staff ensures that
your donation will be put to immediate use reforming the lending
industry. Thank you for donating today.
